Have you ever wanted to write and be published, and to share your unique stories? Do you want to meet other writers?
New Kiwi Women Fly is a masterclass series for migrant women writers. Spend two Saturdays (January 10th and 17th, 2015) in the beautiful surrounds of Cotter House with an experienced tutor exploring either poetry, fiction or scriptwriting in more depth. At the end of this you will have the opportunity to submit writing for an anthology*, as well as have your work showcased at a book launch/reading to take place after the workshop.
You will make contact with other writers and have the opportunity to network. Workshops will include exercises, discussion on "the state of the industry" and how to get your work seen and heard.
This course is intended to extend those who have already embarked on the journey of being a writer. To be part of this, you must be a woman who was not born in NZ, and you must have attended any other previous writing course and/or had a piece of creative writing published.
We are grateful to Cotter House for providing the venue and to Creative Communities for partially subsidising this course.
Course costs: $110 full. $20 discount available to graduates of the New Kiwi Women Write course. If you are currently unwaged and/or on a benefit, course costs $50. There is no requirement to be a NZ resident. Confirmation of a place on receipt of full payment, and cancellations with refund are possible up until Jan 3 ( less a $15 administration fee.)
There is a limit of 15 places per stream (poetry, fiction or scriptwriting) - a total of 45 places in all. Please nominate your preferred stream when registering.
* The anthology
This is a professionally designed and published book (book designer Sarah Laing), available for public sale and to libraries, schools etc. The anthology editing and production costs are partially subsidised by the course and books will be available to participants at a reduced cost. The intent is to provide a lasting record of the course, to share our writing more widely with readers and other writers and to give the full experience, from writing to publication, to course participants.
