
Renee Liang (Scriptwriting tutor and course convenor)
Renee, a second-generation Chinese Kiwi, is a poet, playwright, paediatrician, medical researcher and fiction writer. She organises community arts events such as New Kiwi Women Write, a writing workshop series for migrant women in association with Auckland Council. She is a regular contributor to The Big Idea, a website linking NZ's arts community. Renee has been published in a number of journals and anthologies, has produced three chapbooks of poetry and has written, produced and toured three plays: Lantern, The Bone Feeder and The First Asian AB. Her new plays Under The Same Moon (http://samemoon.weebly.com) and The Two Farting Sisters (http://www.petitworkshop.co.nz/farting-sisters/) premiere in February 2015. Siobhan Harvey (Fiction tutor)
Siobhan is the author of 2013 Kathleen Grattan Award winning poetry collection, Cloudboy (Otago University Press NZ, 2014) and, as co-editor, Essential New Zealand Poems (Penguin Random House NZ, 2014). Recently, her poetry been published in Best New Zealand Poems, Evergreen Review (US), Meanjin (Aus) and Stand (UK), amongst others. Her creative nonfiction has been published in Landfall (NZ) and Segue (US). She has been runner-up in 2014 New Zealand Poetry Society International Poetry Competition, 2012 Dorothy Porter Poetry Prize (Aus), 2012 Kevin Ireland Poetry Competition and 2011 Landfall Essay Prize, as well as being nominated for the Pushcart Prize (US). Miriam Barr (Poetry tutor)
Miriam is a poet from the Far North living in Auckland. Her poetry has been published in such places as Landfall, Takahe, Brief, JAAM, Poetry NZ, 4th Floor, Blackmail Press, Enamel, Potroast, REM Magazine and The Wild Goose Poetry Review (USA). Her first major collection, Bullet Hole Riddle, was published by Steele Roberts in November 2014. Miriam has performed her work widely, both solo and in collaboration with other poets, musicians, visual artists and dancers. Currently the National Coordinator of National Poetry Day, she has previously been an open mic MC at Poetry Live, creative director for performance poetry group The Literatti, Poetry Idol slam champion (2007), founding editor of independent poetry zine Side Stream, a creative writing tutor and the facilitator of many poetry and performance workshops.
